Green Day somehow managed to weasel out of paying an artist for using their work during a 2009 tour that made them beaucoup bucks. Honestly, this is kind of sad. Dereck Seltzer, the artist behind the image "Scream Icon," sued Green Day for copyright infringement after they used an augmented version of his work as the video backdrop for their song "East Jesus Nowhere." All I can say is "Whoa." "Burgundy," the latest leak from Earl Sweatshirt's highly anticipated new album Doris, is the same sort of introspective, stomach-churning lyrical exercise we've come to expect from the Odd Future member- with one exception. Sweatshirt has cast aside the menacing rumble of beats on songs like "Hive" for a slow, spacey funk line courtesy of a resurgent Pharrell. Read More »

Cage The Elephant have returned with the first single off of their upcoming new album Melophobia and it is an interesting depature from the band's typical brand of balls-out southern fried rawk. "Come A Little Closer" is a spacy number with mellow ahhhs throughout. That's not saying that Cage The Elephant have gone experimental- the track stays grounded in that it sounds like a David Bowie track had Bowie been a member of a Kentucky bar band- but it is a compelling turn from a band known for songs like "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" and "Back Against The Wall." File this one under "Faith In Humanity: Questionable." Snoop Lion's popular Snoopify app allows users to add stickers onto pictures they take of themselves, in order to make them more like the Reincarnated rapper. Presumably for a lark, the app's developers threw in a $100 (well, $99.99) 'Golden Jay' joint sticker that users could purchase as an add-on. Read More »
