You may not like his music, but you have to appreciate his honesty. Sticking with the same line of copping to cultural appropriation that he did in his recent Wu-Tang freestyle, Macklemore admitted in his Rolling Stone cover story that a large part of "Thrift Shop"'s success is his own whiteness. Wow, just wow. That is some serious dedication. The Game took "We are all Trayvon" to a new level earlier this week. Not by marching, or petitioning, but by getting Martin's famous hoodie-wearing portrait inked onto his skin for all eternity. Read More »
Pepsi has taken a hands-on approach to debuting new pop music this year. We got our first taste of "Grown Woman" via Beyonce's "Mirrors" ad and now the soft drink giant has set it's sights on 'Roar' singer, Katy Perry. Fans can tweet to unlock clues about two new songs from Katy Perry's upcoming album Prism, "Dark Horse" and "Walking On Air." Read More »
Flo Rida managed to catch a huge break in his lawsuit with Mothership Music. The "Can't Believe It" rapper was being sued by the promoter for failing to appear at the Fat As Butter festival in 2011 for a hefty sum of $400,000. Due to travel constraints (MM is in Australia while Flor Rida presumably spends his days in Florida), Mothership subpoenaed Flo Rida over Facebook. It was this fact that torpedoed the whole case on appeal. Read More »
Joe Budden responded to Kendrick Lamar's "Control" verse by starting beef with another rapper who had nothing to do with it! During Budden's "Lost Control" diss response he said the following: Read More »
ASAP Rocky is the latest to respond to Kendrick Lamar's verse on "Control" without writing an actual song. Rocky, who is mentioned directly by K-Dot, says that Kendrick is "smoking crack" if he thinks he can claim the title of King Of New York. ASAP Ferg throws out a reference to "No Church in the Wild"/ his new album Trap Lord asking "What's a King to a Lord?" (the answer is, of course, an overlord. Ferg didn't think that through). Rocky lets it be known that he thinks all the people responding to Lamar's diss are missing the point. Read More »
Adam Lambert teamed up with funk legend/superproducer Nile Rodgers at his All For The East End fundraiser last night (August 19). The duo performed a string of Lambert's own songs but the definite highlight was Lambert and Rodgers destroying a cover of David Bowie's "Let's Dance." Read More »
The Weeknd has been steadily releasing tracks and info from his upcoming debut album Kiss Land. We've already seen the cover art and heard the Portishead-jacking "Belong To The World" and the Drake-assisted "Live For." Now, we have a little bit better idea of what to expect from Abel Tesfaye, as he has released the tracklist for the new album. Read More »

Though the break up rumors have been flowing freely around Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, we just may need to slow our roll a little bit. I wonder how Pitbull is going to steal this one. Diplo's Major Lazer have released a new music video for "Scare Me" starring a live-action version of their eponymous soldier taking on a Sheep In The Big City-style villian named General Rubbish. Read More »
Brace yourself, an ingratiating sense of entitlement is coming (next year). Everyone's favorite hate-watch/over-analysed RSS feed clutterer/"generally enjoyable show sometimes" Girls is returning for Season three in 2014 and HBO is plugging the Lena Dunham-helmed show via a teaser full of tastefully Instagrammed production photos. (Does that sentence make anyone else want to punch their monitor?) Read More »
In case you haven't heard it live streaming via ASAP Ferg's own website, Trap Lord is incredible and washed away all my doubts about the measured, slow rapper. "Hood Pope", "Shabba", "Lord" and "Murder Something" are standouts on the menacing debut from the member of the ASAP Mob who has, so far, proven to be their best spitter (Yes, that includes Rocky. Get at me). Read More »
