European Golf Gets a Little Edgier

By devon-newport | Jan 21, 2016 08:50 PM EST

Sweltering heat and long pants don't usually mix. Unless you're a member of professional golf, then you have to force the two together no matter how uncomfortable it is. At least on the PGA Tour, that is. Europe is being extra edgy and are now willing to let their players forgo the pant option during non-tournament rounds (not actual tournament rounds yet, that's too forward, but at least the build up stuff). Chief executive of the European Tour Keith Pelley announced this week that the tour's Tournament Committee had given the go ahead on shorts for practice rounds and pro-ams. Read More »

By devon-newport | Jan 21, 2016 08:40 PM EST

New York Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis is perhaps the most popular man in all of New York. Almost mid-way through his first NBA season and he's basically reached Kobe Bryant-like popularity. Just check out his jersey sales as proof. The Knicks No. 6 is the fourth hottest selling jersey in the league--based on sales from October through December at the NBA's official online store. He's behind only Steph Curry, LeBron James, and, you guessed it, Kobe Bryant. Read More »

By devon-newport | Jan 21, 2016 05:50 PM EST

Darius Fleming played 26 snaps, accounting for two tackles in the New England Patriots AFC Divisional Round win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. But it's what he did off the field in the week leading up to the game that made an even bigger impact. Fleming rescued a woman from a car crash. Read More »

Buffalo Bills Make NFL History

By devon-newport | Jan 21, 2016 04:40 PM EST

The Buffalo Bills didn't make the playoffs this year, which means their preparation for next season has already begun. The front office will evaluate the team, and make decisions based on what they think they need. And apparently, one thing they needed was a new face on special teams. They hired Kathryn Smith as a special teams quality control coach, effectively making her the NFL's first full-time female coach. Read More »

Ray Rice Returning to Football, Just not in the way he Expected

By devon-newport | Jan 20, 2016 06:10 PM EST

Ray Rice will be returning to football. Although, probably not in the capacity he would have hoped for. The former Baltimore Ravens star--who has been out of the NFL since 2014 after being released by the Ravens for a domestic violence scandal--will take part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl as a coach. In doing so, he'll join former Kansas City Chiefs running back Priest Holmes as co-running backs coaches on Mike Martz's staff. Read More »

Given the Chance to do it all Again, Antwaan Randle El Wouldn't Play Football

By devon-newport | Jan 20, 2016 03:40 PM EST

Antwaan Randle El was a dynamic and explosive player in the NFL. He could return kicks, catch passes, and even throw a good pass every once in a while--just as he did in Super Bowl XL when he connected with Hines Ward for a 43-yard touchdown, forever living on in Pittsburgh Steeler folklore--but he says if he had the choice to do it all again, well, he wouldn't. Cam Newton Pulls off Wearing a Hat Made for Women

By devon-newport | Jan 20, 2016 03:20 PM EST

It's fair to say Cam Newton is a stylish individual. Every week after the football game, he shows up to the post game press conference in something nice--a good suit, unique footwear, jorts, or a fancy new hat. Most recently it was a hat. After the Carolina Panthers NFC Divisional Round win over the Seattle Seahawks, Newton took to the podium to address the press. He was sharply dressed with a beanie like hat used as a neat accessory. But this wasn't just any hat. Oh no. It was an expensive hat--some $360 expensive--and it was also a women's hat. Read More »

Carolina Panthers Prepare for the NFC Championship Without Their Hoverboards

By devon-newport | Jan 19, 2016 06:20 PM EST

The Carolina Panthers are 1-game away from the Super Bowl. Thusly, they are doing everything they can to give themselves an edge, or to avoid stupid injuries. Which really means no more hoverboards (sigh!). Panthers head coach Ron Rivera banned the team from using them ahead of their showdown with the Arizona Cardinals. He cited freak accidents, and unexpected fires as the chief reasons to do so. Read More »

Love Hurts: Hockey Player Arrested for Burning Girlfriend's Letters

By devon-newport | Jan 19, 2016 05:40 PM EST

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned; or a hockey player scorned by a woman, for that matter. Take Justin Agosta, for example. The 25-year-old Florida Everblades hockey player got upset with his girlfriend last month. He attempted to quell the emotional pain by buying some gasoline to burn the love letters from the woman who he once thought was his forever and always. Not all that surprisingly, the fire got out of control--after all, gasoline was involved in the task of burning paper. He was subsequently arrested for arson. Read More »
