Mets's Matt Harvey Hints At Playoff Prediction In Return Season From Tommy John Surgery

By Joseph Trezza |

New York Mets ace Matt Harvey isn't afraid of making headlines or being seen, and Tuesday, Dec. 2, he met the media in anticipation of his return season to the mound. Harvey, who missed all of 2014 after undergoing Tommy John surgery after bursting onto the scene as one of baseball's best pitchers in 2013, hinted vaguely at a playoff prediction for his normally moribund Mets. "I don't think it's going to be easy to skip starts — I don't think any pitcher is going to want to really do that," Harvey said, about taking small rests throughout the season, according to "USA Today." "But to be able to pitch in October is going to be more important." The Mets haven't sniffed October since 2006, after historic collapses in 2007 and 2008 seemed to serve as a middle-finger prerequisite to troubling times ahead. Soon after came the Bernie Madoff scandal and half a decade of futility. Then, in 2013, Harvey came along and stole the baseball spotlight. He started the 2013 All-Star Game and posted a 2.27 ERA in 26 starts. Read More »

Amir Khan Ready For Triple Threat Fight?

By Kenneth Brown |

To some, Amir Khan fighting Devon Alexander might just be a routine fight, but to Khan it's everything, as he must come out on top. If he loses, he can forget potential 2015 bouts against Manny Pacquiao, Kell Brook and Floyd Mayweather. However, if he wins, then he may just get his pick of the trio, all of whom present very different, yet intriguing options for the British boxing star. Recently, Khan insulted Brook, adding spice to that fight, but it's believed that he wants to fight the winner of Mayweather and Pacquiao. Will Khan win these bouts? Read More »

Billy Beane & Josh Donaldson Fight Sparks Trade

By Kenneth Brown |

Josh Donaldson is one of the best players the Oakland Athletics had, and one of the best the MLB has to offer, so it's fair to say the world was baffled when they decided to trade him to the Toronto Blue Jays. Rumors are suggesting it might well have been because of a fall-out between Josh and Billy Beane, the A's general manager. Now he's a Blue Jay, and he couldn't be happier, but will the A's suffer a huge decline because of yet another indecisive trade? Read More »

Michael Sam Distraction: Is He Not In The NFL Because He's Gay? [WATCH]

By Jaymz Clements |

The NFL's first openly gay player, Michael Sam, has revealed why thinks he was cut from the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys and is no longer on an NFL team ... and it has nothing to do with his talent. The defensive player, who came out before this year's NFL draft — told reporters that he still believes he has a future in football, and that the reason he's not in the league may have to do with his sexuality and about the bogus "Michael Sam distraction" rather than his talent as a footballer. When asked by TMZ why he's not currently on an NFL team, despite being drafted by the St. Louis Rams and then picked up by the Dallas Cowboys after being placed on waivers by the Rams, "I was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year last year, I don't think it had to do with talent." Even though Sam was a college star, the fact that Sam is gay caused many in football to wonder how it would affect his draft stock and his eventual acceptance into the NFL, with the "(New York) Daily News" even saying "most NFL experts blamed his size — and not the fact that he was gay" for his draft-day drop. Torii Hunter Returns to the Minnesota Twins: The 11 Great Years There That Made Him a Star

By Joseph Trezza |

Torii Hunter was a dynamic yet fairly overlooked player of the early 2000s, maybe because his name was never linked to any drug-related controversy, or maybe because his Twins never reached a World Series despite four playoff appearances. Either way, here's what he accomplished in his first go-around in the Twin Cities, in case you forgot. Read More »

Jameis Winston NFL Bound?

By Kenneth Brown |

Jameis Winston is currently undergoing a life-changing case, hoping his lawyer David Cornwell can help him remain unpunished, and then he can focus on the 2015 NFL draft. Winston is seen as one of the best QB in that class, but he's also widely considered as the most troubling NCAA star to ever look to enter the NFL. The Florida State University QB could find himself off the hook, and then he could be drafted by the Oakland Raiders, the Chicago Bears or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Is he worth the trouble, and will the many allegations surrounding him be enough to hurt his draft stock? Read More »

LeBron James & Drake Angry Over Johnny Manziel Benching?

By Kenneth Brown |

Drake and LeBron James will be angry, as despite their best efforts, they couldn't convince Mike Pettine to bench Brian Hoyer in favour of Johnny Manziel, who they're both good friends with. Pettine has angered many fans of the Cleveland Browns and a Hip Hop and NBA icon, all with one move, so Hoyer had better prove his worth in their upcoming NFL clash against the Indianapolis Colts. Will Pettine regret upsetting Drake and James, and could this prompt a Manziel trade? Read More »

Mike Ditka 'Embarrassed' For Rams Players In Michael Brown Ferguson 'Hands Up, Don't Shoot' Stance

By Jaymz Clements |

Former Chicago Bears coach and current ESPN TV personality Mike Ditka has taken a hardline stance against St. Louis Rams players who showed their solidarity with the family and friends of Ferguson police shooting victim Michael Brown with a "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" stance before their game against the Oakland Raiders Sunday, Nov. 30. The players — Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, Jared Cook, Chris Givens and Kenny Britt — all came out of the St. Louis tunnel before their Oakland game with their hands up in the "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" protest gesture. Elderly white man Ditka, however, doesn't think they should have. Saying that the Rams players should be "embarrassed" for their political stance — presumably against innocent people being shot by those charged to serve and protect them — the former NFL coach doesn't "want to hear about this hands-up crap" and adds that Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson's "life is ruined." Tom Brady Too Old For Rob Gronkowski?

By Kenneth Brown |

Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are equals when stepping out onto the NFL field for the New England Patriots, but Brady has explained that his old-man attitude doesn't want to put up with several of his younger stars' off-field partying antics. Could Brady's veteran presence hold the team back when it comes down to it? Many believe he's the reason the Pats have failed to go the distance in recent years, however, they are a heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl this year. Gronk recently partied with Justin Bieber, attending an L.A. Clippers NBA game, but as expected, Brady was nowhere to be seen. Read More »
