If there’s anything better than actually watching HBO’s True Detective, it’s the below Christmas parody of the now-famed Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson-led drama. Okay, maybe it’s not better – let’s face it, True Detective was pretty awesome – but this spoof is still damn good! Playing off the ever so rocky relationship between Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Marty Hart (Harrelson), this sketch makes us pretty happy that Santa Claus is nothing at all like McConaughey’s character. To many, it might seem obvious that Liam Hemsworth and Thor / People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, Chris Hemsworth, are brothers. To Woody Harrelson, not so much. In a recent sit-down for the new film Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, the former True Detective star had the sudden revelation when a journalist made small talk with Hemsworth about his brother before the interview. Easily one of the best SNL episodes the network has churned out in quite some time, it all started with the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 star's monologue, which featured his fellow cast members Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. It's a sad day or all you Hunger Game fans out there. The hit series, which has spawned three books, and will span four movies, has officially finished filming the last two Mockingjay sequels in the franchise. Film executive Nina Jacobson posted a picture to her Twitter account showing Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, and Liam Hemsworth embracing in a group hug after they all had just completed their last day of filming on set together. If you're a fan of HBO's intense crime drama True Detective, you're a fan of Charles Halford, the actor who portrayed Reggie Ledoux in the most recent episode, "The Secret Fate of All Life." He was also featured in one of the creepiest, ominous shots of the series in episode three, "The Locked Room." HBO's new 8-episode series True Detective got off to a surprisingly successful start with its premiere and continues to do well as season one progresses. Star Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are getting plenty of praise for their work on the series and so has series writer and creator Nic Pizzolatto. In fact, HBO has just signed Pizzolatto on for a two-year writing deal, ensuring that season two of True Detective will come along in the near future. Read More »
HBO's new series True Detective premiered this weekend, breaking viewership records for the network in terms of debut episodes. The new crime drama starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson racked up 2.3 million viewers for its first episode, beating out the Game of Thrones and The Newsroom series premiere numbers. This wasn't the network's biggest debut, however. In 2010, Boardwalk Empire pulled in an incredibly impressive 4.8 million viewers.
