In the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC) next month, Japanese tech giant Sony will be unveiling five new devices. But an online video leaked on Friday showed one, the new Sony Xperia XA ahead of the 2017 congress.

On Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, the YouTube channel TechLover HD's leaked video showcased the Xperia XA, Yahoo reports. The Japanese smartphone had a sticker on the back stating that the handset was a prototype and is not for sale.

Looking at the Xperia XA, it can be observed that the phone experienced a drastic facelift. But the large bezels on the top and bottom of the device are still there and look annoying.

However, the leaked video does not say anything about the Xperia XA's specs and features, or if Sony is releasing the device with the model code G3121. The title of the video says Sony's new device will feature a 23-megapixel camera at the back.

Android Headlines also reports that the Xperia XA appeared to run on Android 7.0 Nougat which was released August last year. It also has the security patch released on Jan. 5 installed. This would mean that the device shown in the video is a very recent one or it was just an old prototype of the device running updated software.

The Xperia XA also appeared to be in matte color, both at the sides and the back of the device. The color can also be seen with the phones Xperia XZ and the Xperia X series that Sony launched September last year. The original Xperia XA was launched last year and was considered as a mid-range device.

The Mobile World Congress 2017 will be held in Barcelona next month, with Sony's press conference taking place on the first day.
