'The Belko Experiment' Horror Film Gets LEGO Trailer Before Theatrical Release [Watch]

Today, viewers will be able to watch "The Belko Experiment" in theaters nationwide. The horror movie depicts employees working for the Belko Corporation, which forces them to kill their co-workers to save themselves. Before its theatrical release, the trailer got the LEGO treatment.

Greg McLean ("Wolf Creek") and James Gunn ("Guardians of the Galaxy") directed and penned "The Belko Experiment" script respectively. After its Red Band trailer, Gunn tapped Huxley Berg Studios for the film's LEGO trailer, according to Movie Web. After the teaser video debuted on YouTube, Gunn promoted it on Twitter. The new trailer is basically the same as the original, but with some references to Gunn's other movie.

In the LEGO "The Belko Experiment" trailer, Michael Rooker's LEGO character doesn't bear any semblance to the actor. Instead, Huxley Berg Studios used Rooker's character, Yondu, from the "Guardians of the Galaxy". In a scene in the original trailer, the characters go up to the roof to hang the sign, "We are being held hostage." Instead, the sign in the LEGO trailer says, "Subscribe to Huxley Berg Studios Plz."

The horror film has a storyline that takes elements from "The Purge" or "Battle Royale". Every employee in Belko has a tracker implanted in their heads for security purposes, but the real reason is so that the company heads can control them. The gist of "The Belko Experiment" plot is that the employees stranded inside the building have no choice but to kill over 30 people; otherwise, 60 of them will die.

According to the Hollywood Reporter's "The Belko Experiment" review, the movie shows the employees branching off into groups. The good guys, led by Mike (John Gallagher Jr.), want to find a different way to get out of the building. The other group, led by Barry (Tony Goldwyn), is desperate enough to get the job done so they can go home to their families.

The horror film will most likely appeal to those who like seeing "The Lord of the Flies" in action among grown men and women. However, "The Belko Experiment" doesn't shy away from showing blood and gore. Characters are hacking each other to pieces to 80s music, so the film isn't recommended to those with weak stomachs. The film will be out in theaters on March 17.
