Showtime has plans underway for the upcoming Season 4 of crime drama, Ray Donovan. Due to his searing performance from the Season 3 finale, Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan himself) has earned himself a 2016 Golden Globes nomination.

As we previously mentioned, during this third season, viewers meet with Malcolm Finney (Ian McShane), a prominent movie producer in the industry. The billionaire hires the fixer, Ray (Schreiber), to get his family out of a potentially catastrophic situation. Along the way, Ray ended up going head-to-head with his daughter, Paige Finney (Katie Holmes). The two found themselves forming a complicated relationship as they eventually slept with each other.

In the third season finale, Ray's teen daughter Bridget (Kerris Dorsey) ended up falling in love with her math teacher (Aaron Staton). After a blood-soaked battle with a group of drug dealers who Mickey (Jon Voight) crossed, Ray broke down in tears, confessing how he murdered the priest who sexually abused him and his brothers. Mickey was last seen leaving California, with no reason to ever come back.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the nominations list has been released for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards. The X-Men Origins: Wolverine action star has garnered himself a nod for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama. The Scream 2 actor finds himself in competition with Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Wagner Moura (Narcos) and Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul).

In an interview with TV Line, showrunner David Hollander describes directing Schreiber on Ray emotional breakdown/confession, "On that day, Liev did what a great actor does: He prepared and then let go and trusted the script and trusted us and trusted me. He gave an extraordinary performance. There wasn't a person on the floor that wasn't sure that we had something extraordinarily special."

Hosted by Ricky Gervais, The Golden Globes broadcasts on NBC Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016.

Ray Donovan will return to Showtime for its fourth season. The third season of Ray Donovan will be available on Blu-ray and DVD December 29th.
