Mario Swain, a Texas man who prosecutors once described as a "serial killer in training," was executed by lethal injection on Thursday evening (Nov. 8) for the killing of 44-year-old Lola Nixon during a burglary at the woman's own Longview home back in 2002. 33-year-old Swain did not give a final statement - he only shook his head no and closed his eyes before going completely quiet just moments later at approximately 6:39 p.m. CST in Huntsville, TX. No witnesses, either from Swain or Nixon's family, were present during the procedure. Swain was the first of three prisoners set to be executed in Texas in the next week. Read More »
Rumors first had it that Universal Studios was in talks to produce a sequel to the hit 2012 fantasy film "Snow White and the Huntsman" - a film which would not include leading actress Kristen Stewart. Following 22-year-old Stewart's highly controversial and publicized love affair with "Snow White" director Rupert Sanders, reports began circulating that producers didn't want the "Twilight" alum back on the set for a second movie. But those rumors can now be laid to rest - it looks like Stewart is totally interested in taking part in the sequel, and Universal is happy to take her back. Pop star Rihanna preformed at the 2012 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show alongside Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars, and it looks like the "Diamonds" songstress had a sexy, fun time both on and backstage! Throughout the event, RiRi tweeted several steamy, barely-clothed Instagram pics from the evening posing with many gorgeous Angels models in skimpy lingerie - and rumors have it that the Barbadian beauty actually texted many of the "erotic" pics to on-and-off again beau Chris Brown! Tennessee State University freshman William Wayne Jones, III, who played defensive back on the school's popular football team the Tigers, suddenly collapsed during a non-contact practice drill on Wednesday (Nov. 8) - he was then found to have no pulse. After promptly being transported to Baptist Hospital, Jones was later pronounced dead. The 19-year-old's sudden death comes as a shock to many teammates, coaches, and peers, who were not aware if Jones had any pre-existing condition to explain such a tragic and unexpected loss. Teen billionaire and apparent "wise guy" Peter Brant II (the 18-year-old son of publishing mogul Peter Brant Sr. and supermodel Stephanie Seymour) had a rather disturbing text message conversation with peer Andrew Warren about coming up with a "contingency plan" to kill President Barack Obama. The two young men then went on to make fun of Women's Rights... and the worst part - Brant thought it would be funny to post the controversial convo on the popular picture sharing website Instagram. The text message image soon went viral - both boys ended up apologizing (Brant even condemned such behavior as "stupid humor"), but even so, many Twitter and Instagram followers were not very amused. Jermaine Jackson, the older bro of Michael Jackson who still currently tours with his other brothers who originally made up the Jackson 5, is ready for a change - with his ultra-famous surname. Reports confirm that Jermaine hopes to legally alter his last name from Jackson to Jacksun. In a petition filed in L.A. County Superior Court on Wednesday (Nov. 7), Jermaine insists that he only wants to change his name simply for "artistic reasons." Phonetically, the spelling makes no difference. Millicent Owuor, a 20-year-old Kenyan woman who gave birth to twin boys earlier this week, decided to honor the 2012 U.S. presidential nominees during such a monumental event (she gave birth on election day - Tuesday, Nov. 6) by naming her newborn sons Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Owuor told the National Daily that by naming her boys Obama and Romney, she will forever "remember the historic U.S. elections for a long time, both the winner and the loser." Owuor gave birth at the Siaya District Hospital in southwest Kenya, an area very close to the village of Kogelo, where Obama's father (Barack Obama Sr.) was born. Reports confirm that an LA judge has ordered that 14-year-old "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter be placed in the temporary care of her older sister, following allegations that Winter's mother Chrisoula "Crystal" Workman physically abused her. While Workman and her son Jimmy heatedly deny the abuse claims, she has been ordered to stay away from Winter after allegedly slapping and emotionally abusing the teen. A new song by the late pop star Whitney Houston, entitled "Never Give Up," recently surfaced online, months following the 48-year-old songstress' unfortunate death. The track is featured on Houston's new greatest hits collection, "I Will Always Love You - the Best of Whitney Houston," which hits stores Nov. 13. Along with "Never Give Up," one other never-before-heard track "I Look to You" (featuring R.
