During the ceremony, the late comedienne Joan Rivers was honored by not only her daughter Melissa Rivers, who finally broken silence on her mother’s sudden death, but also comedian – and new girlfriend of Masters of Sex star Michael Sheen – Sarah Silverman. The comedy world has still been trying to move on following the tragic and unexpected death of Joan Rivers earlier this year. The 81-year-old's E! television series "Fashion Police" has also been trying to find a replacement for the star without much luck. The series, which returns in January, is only two months away from returning to the airwaves and news today is revealing that Joan's daughter Melissa Rivers has personally asked Kathy Griffin to take over Joan's spot. According to Radar Online, the series is looking at Griffin to take over the chair left vacant by Joan, and that it was Rivers's own daughter who brought up the idea. "Melissa told Kathy it is what her mother would have wanted," an insider revealed to the site. While "People" magazine reported that Kathy was approached by the network earlier this month, the red-headed star didn't know whether or not she wanted to take on the hosting gig. "I don't know if the situation is correct or right at this time for me. We'll see," the star explained to the magazine. But after being approached by Melissa, it looks like Kathy has changed her mind. E! denied the claim to the magazine, saying that Kathy wasn't even offered the position. But whether or not she takes it is a different story. The star talked to "Access Hollywood" during her 54th birthday today and revealed that the network offered her the role.
