Jason Alexander's George Costanza character on Seinfeld might have been a small representation of the iconic series' creator Larry David, but now the famed actor is actually being LD. It's being reported that Alexander will replace David in his Broadway play Fish in the Dark, stepping into the role of Norman Drexel this coming June 9. The New York Times is reporting that David is leaving in the beginning of June following "tepid reviews" from a number of outlets. Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David's 90s baby Seinfeld had a brilliant way of stepping around controversial topics and tackling them straight on in a SFW sort of way that no other sitcom could do. The perfect example would be "The Contest"––the masturbation episode in which Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer enter a contest to see who can be "master of their domain." And while it seemed nothing could top that, apparently the heads over at NBC gave the axe to a couple of episodes they deemed too controversial for the airwaves. After comedian John Mulaney’s FOX series Mulaney was canceled, the world of comedy was left with a heavy void needing to be filled. Luckily, it’s being reported that former Saturday Night Live player, and co-star of the now defunct FOX show, Nasim Pedrad, will be filling out holes – we mean voids. After completely busting open (again) the case against Bill Cosby and those various rape allegations, it looks like Hannibal Buress has had one heck of a tough time. Of course, not nearly as rough as Cosby himself but he did receive some backlash from Cosby Show fans. During a recent stop over at Jimmy Kimmel Live! the Broad City star told Kimmel about a number of death threats he's received due to his calling out Cosby. Looks like Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld could very well become a hell of a lot wealthier very, very soon. Which is good because they need the money. Oh wait, no, they don't –– at all. But that doesn't mean they won't be seeing some pretty hefty residual checks when the streaming rights for their hit series Seinfeld are sold. Right now, it's being reported that Sony Pictures TV is offering the show to Hulu, Yahoo and Amazon and causing a bidding war of around $90 million. And Netflix? The Daily Show fans may be sad to see Jon Stewart leaving his coveted seat over at Comedy Central, but it looks like he’s not necessarily vacating the spot light. At least, we hope not.
