Last week we brought you the news that Robin Thicke, Pharrell and T.I. were filing suit against the Marvin Gaye estate to preemptively strike down any legal action the family might take against "Blurred Lines," their Billboard chart-dominating hit that pays homage to Gaye's "Got To Give It Up." Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" song is arguably the biggest song of 2013. However, the single has faced its share of controversy over its music video and now allegations that it copied two other songs. Attorneys for Thicke, T.I. and Pharrell Williams have filed a lawsuit on Thursday in Los Angeles asking a judge to determine that "Blurred Lines" does not copy songs from Marvin Gaye and George Clinton. The New York Daily News reports that in the lawsuit it claims that the owners of the copyright of Gaye's "Got to Give It Up" and Clinton's "Sexy Ways" have warned Thicke that "Blurred Lines" uses elements from both those songs. During a Los Angeles Dodgers game against the New York Mets, cameras broadcasted Kanye West and Kim Kardashian on the stadium's screens. The fans in attendance booed the "Yeezus" rapper and his "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" girlfriend. West and Kardashian eventually moved seats to the Mets' side of the stadium. In an announcement that isn't nearly as surprising at it should be, pop superstar Justin Timberlake will perform at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. On their various media platforms, including their Instagram, MTV announced that Timberlake will not only perform for the VMAs but will also receive the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. Read More »
Though chart points have shifted slightly in the last seven days, the top 10 spots of the Hot 100 remain the same for Aug. 15 as they were last week, according to Billboard.
